Special Interest Groups (SIGs)
The Chapter's goal is to bring members closer together both professionally and personally in an environment focused on their specific areas of practice. These groups are designed with a broad focus and each SIG functions independently.
What are SIGs?
SIGs are groups that meet on a regular basis to provide learning and networking opportunities by discussing topics of interest. Meeting format varies from group to group – some groups host subject matter experts who deliver presentations, while others hold discussion groups. These meetings are an excellent way to dive deep into a particular topic while also getting to know others in a relaxed, peer group setting.
What is the purpose of the SIGs?
SIGs bring together members who have common interests and backgrounds, and who wish to either learn new skills or sharpen existing ones. SIGs provide terrific learning opportunities for members to establish contacts, share best practices and learn from one another’s expertise. In short, our SIGs allow HR professionals to stay current on the latest trends in their field of interest!
What is the benefit of participating in a SIG?
People attend our SIG meetings for many reasons:
- To stay current on the latest trends in HR specialty areas
- To learn new tips, tricks, and tools of the trade
- To gain HRCI credit at most events
- To share best practices for solving work-related issues
- To network with other NOVA SHRM members in their interest area
- To get more involved with the HR community
How do I join a SIG?
If you would like to join a SIG, please contact the SIG leader for the group. Note each SIG’s meeting date, time, and location on the attached pages. Once you become a SIG member, the leader will keep you on the SIG’s email distribution list and notify you of upcoming meetings via email.
