Finding your Data Diamond in the Rough: 
Tools and Techniques to Discover, Manage, and Present your HR data to Maximize Impact

  • This program has been approved for 1.5 Business HRCI recertification credits and 1.5 SHRM recertification credits.

When it comes to Human Resources, there are a variety of data and systems that organizations can use to inform planning and decision-making. However, it is not always clear which data should be used for which purposes, or how to best track, access, and analyze this data so that it can be used in a meaningful way.

This session will focus on the different types of HR data, their uses, the relevant systems supporting these data, and how best to analyze, interpret, and visualize the data so as to inform decision-making. Topics will include:

  • Basics of HR data and data sources
  • Data management and integration
  • Analytics and dashboards
  • Pitfalls and challenges
  • Systems and tools that facilitate access, enhance impact, and support data management

 

Learning objectives include:


• Improve understanding of HR data, types, sources, and integration strategies
• Become familiar with basic to advanced analytics strategies
• Become familiar with basic to advanced data visualization and dashboard strategies
• Describe common pitfalls and challenges related to HR data

Nathan Bailey, PHD, Vice President, FMP Consulting

Dr. Bailey has more than 17 years of professional experience related to project and program management and technology implementation. Dr. Bailey has considerable experience with HR technology and transformation initiatives in the corporate, academic, and government sectors, working with several agencies including the Department of Labor (DOL), the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA), the Department of Energy (DOE), and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to evaluate and deploy new enterprise HRIT systems and developing and deploying enterprise reporting and analytics capabilities. Dr. Bailey has a PhD in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from Old Dominion University as well as a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the Project Management Institute.
