The Need

Do you like conflict? If you are like most people, your answer is a resounding “no.” We are hard wired to avoid conflict. We are taught that conflict is something that should be remediated, ducked, dodged, and beaten out like a forest fire.

Yet we are in conflict every day. We usually equate conflict with interpersonal conflict, which is, of course, one of the significant ways we experience conflict. What we miss are the more subtle ways we are in conflict. For example, we can be in conflict with our work environment, with societal norms, with expectations of ourselves or others, and with competing goals. We can even be in conflict with ourselves – and that is the hardest kind of conflict to recognize and resolve. All these ways we experience conflict grind away at us every day, sapping our energy and blurring our focus.

The Topic

What if we can deal with conflict long before it becomes a significant issue getting in the way of the important results we need to accomplish?

We can!

One of the universal leadership tools is our ability to engage in robust conversation. By doing so, we can head off conflict at the pass, before it becomes a raging wildfire. This program provides a simple framework called the IdEA Model© to improve all of our conversations whether in a team or one on one setting and regardless of the topic. Doing so helps us to gain clarity, focus, understanding, and alignment.

This program also provides a simple framework for delivering feedback whether is it low intensity observational feedback, or higher intensity confrontation. Participants will learn and practice giving feedback using the NEW Method©. Building a culture of feedback is the key to managing conflict. This workshop provides simple strategies and tools to convert both the cost and the opportunities into strategies that can propel us toward greater results.
