When I was looking for a way to study for my SHRM exam, I had no idea I would run across the NOVA SHRM study group. But I am so happy I did. While it started out in-person, due to COVID-19 we had to go remote. However, that did not hinder the quality in teaching or learning.

Anna challenged me to think/understand differently and so did my peer learners. She never let me get discouraged. She motivated and encouraged me to not memorize what I was learning, but truly understand all of the competencies.   One of my concerns when I was looking for a study session was, I knew I needed an interactive class. This study session by far exceeded that expectation. It is not a study group where the facilitator is only lecturing, you will have plenty of interaction with everyone in the study group.

Another great thing about the study session is the support. Not only were my peer learners supportive, but so was Anna. This support continued even after the study session was over. I was able to contact Anna up until the day of due to having anxiety about the test. And she was able to keep me calm and assure me that I knew the material and was confident in my abilities. And guess what? I passed! I know for a fact that I would have not been able to pass this exam without Anna's guidance (a true GEM). I would encourage anyone who is looking to take the SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP to sign up for this study group, it is worth it.

- Chiquita Kearney - SHRM-CP (Spring 2020)

At first, my plan was to self-study after purchasing the study materials, but I’m so glad I registered for the NOVA SHRM Study Group program. What helped me the most was the discussions between the facilitators and learners. Through discussions, I was able to hear and apply real life examples/situations to the materials, which made studying a lot easier. The facilitators provided non-stop support and helped me understand the competencies and key functions I was having trouble in. Through the program, not only did I obtained the necessary resources and materials to prepare for the exam but I’ve gained life-long friendships and connections with other HR professionals. I highly recommend taking the study program when preparing for the exam.

- Jenny Chan SHRM – CP (2019 Study Group)

I attended the Fall 2019 study group with Anna Sinha, Anna stayed the course and stuck with what she knew worked in order for you to think through concepts and understand overall SHRM competencies. She’s the instructor that some days you don’t want to like, but will always respect because she wants everyone to succeed. Anna allows you to make your study plan and she will pick up the phone to check on you and the progress of the plan.

Anna was patient in her teaching and made sure no one dominated the room. Anna is one of the reasons I passed the test. She taught us everything we needed to know and held us accountable.

- Leslie Munoz SHRM – CP (2019 Study Group)

Doing this study group was one of the best decisions I've made. The instructors are experienced professionals and talented teachers, and the structured format kept me accountable and on track. I learned as much from my fellow learners as I did from the instructors and expanded my network at the same time. I highly recommend this study group to anyone who is serious about passing the SHRM certification exam.

- Allison Nulph SHRM – CP (2019 Study Group)

I do not think I would have recently passed the SHRM-CP exam had I not been a part of the NOVA SHRM study group. I am relatively new to the HR field and benefited greatly from the program for several reasons. It provided a study schedule that enabled me to plan my studies around my work and family responsibilities. Although I felt I understood the material in the SHRM Learning System after reading it, the instructor-led class discussions helped me understand the content on a deeper level and provided an opportunity to ask questions. The instructor and learners in the group were all very dedicated and concerned with the group's success and supported each other with encouragement and thoughtful discussion of key points. I plan to participate in the SHRM study group again when I prepare for the SHRM-SCP exam in the future. I would unequivocally recommend the SRM study group to anyone in the human resources field pursuing SHRM certification.

- Teresa Presson SHRM – CP (2019 Study Group)

My experience with the SHRM study group was a challenging and positive one. There was a great deal of material to get through for the SHRM - SCP but the study group continuously helped me stay focused and on track. A combination of the practice tests, in person classes and simple syllabuses schedule helped ensure I was thoughtful and on top of my studies.

The biggest recommendation I would have for future study group participants is to take the practice tests as often as possible. These tests will show your scores in each category, so you know which areas you should devote more of your time studying on compared to others.

A big thanks to NOVA SHRM and our instructors Anna and Sara for helping myself and the rest of the group prepare for this challenging exam.

- Meredith Rogers SHRM - SCP (2018 Study Group)

I am considered myself lucky as I accidentally found NoVA SHRM study group for the exam prep. The study group has helped to keep focus on my studying and blocked my time to do the readings. It was not easy for me as I have my full-time job and in the middle of change management and heavy recruitment.

The study group members motivated me to keep going. I will recommend for everyone to re-Read the books again after the sessions ended, during the sessions do all the tasks you have to do I.e complete assessments. If you are new in HR world, spend more time to understand the concept as this will help you to answer the questions.

The exam for me was harder than the assessments I took, however I realized that everything was covered in the book. Hence, I highly recommended to re-read the books over and over. Be mindful with your time, be sure that you have at least an hour to go over the questions again, all flagged and skipped questions. Gather all tips you can get about the exam, it was helpful for me.”

- Nadine Cottrell SHRM-SCP (2018 Study Group)

I took this class because I wanted the opportunity to have conversation about the material and to be on track for test preparation. This course exceeded my expectations. The instructors were knowledgeable, and the classes were engaging. It also helped me stay accountable since I had to prepare for each course with the readings and the practice exams. I appreciate the encouragement I received when I felt overwhelmed. I recommend taking the NOVA-SHRM prep course and know it propelled me to pass the exam.

- Chelai Johnson SHRM – CP (2018 Study Group)

I am so grateful for my experience with the NOVA SHRM Study Group. The facilitators guided me throughout my journey of studying and helped me to stay on track. They provided unwavering support and helped me understand key concepts that could be applied on the exam and on the job. I am very happy that I decided to enroll in the Study Group. It was very instrumental to me obtaining the SHRM-CP Designation.

- Desiree Roberts, M.S., SHRM-CP (2018 Study Group)

I recently obtained the SHRM-CP certification. The NOVA SHRM Study Group exceeded my expectations significantly! I learned so much from all the constructive input and guidance throughout each lesson of the course and gained a lot of knowledge and practical experiences that will be beneficial to me professionally. It has been a truly invaluable learning experience for me. Thank you!
