Dear NOVA SHRM Community,

As we head into the Fourth of July weekend, we, the NOVA SHRM Board, want to take a moment to reflect on the first half of this year and share our excitement for what’s ahead.

The past several months haven’t been without challenges—many of us have faced changes that made the work of HR even more demanding, and some of our members have navigated career transitions and tough decisions. But through it all, we’ve seen this community come together in ways that remind us why we do what we do.

Being in HR means navigating the hard parts—and also showing up for one another when it matters most. That’s what makes NOVA SHRM special: it’s not just a professional network; it’s a place to find connection, support, and people who understand the unique demands of this work. We hope you’ll continue to lean in, reach out, and make the most of the connections this chapter offers.

In the second half of this year, there are plenty of opportunities to come together at upcoming SIG events, chapter programs, social hours or our special HR on the Move event on July 21 for HR professionals in transition. Whether you’re looking for fresh ideas, a little inspiration, or just good company, we hope to see you there.

This Fourth of July, we hope you find time to rest, recharge, and celebrate all you’ve done so far this year. Thank you for bringing your dedication, experience, and heart to this community. We’re excited for what’s next—and we’re grateful to have you with us.

Warmly,
The NOVA SHRM Board

As we close out another successful year, the NOVA SHRM Board of Directors would like to take a moment to reflect on our collective achievements and express our sincere gratitude for your ongoing support and involvement. This year, our chapter thrived, offering robust programming and numerous opportunities for HR professionals in the DMV area to connect, learn, and grow together.

Please join us for our NOVA SHRM End-of-Year Event as we celebrate an incredible year of growth and connection on Monday, December 2.

We are proud to share that as of November 30, NOVA SHRM has grown to 660 members! This is AMAZING! Through key partnerships, we delivered impactful programming, including the Legal and HR Academies and virtual events that provided valuable insights on a wide range of critical HR topics. One of the highlights was celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Mentor HR program with over 90 attendees.

Our members also enjoyed multiple opportunities to connect during monthly happy hours and other networking events. These gatherings have not only expanded professional networks but have strengthened the sense of community that makes NOVA SHRM such a dynamic chapter.

Looking ahead, we are excited to announce several initiatives designed to further enhance your membership experience in 2025. These include the launch of a New Member Onboarding Program to better integrate new members, the continuation of our popular networking socials, and expanded agendas for next year’s Legal and HR Academies. We will also offer additional special interest group events for more targeted content.

To help lead and support these events, we are looking for member volunteers for several board committees.
